The uniform distribution and length of glass fibres in a component play a very important role in the processing of long glass fibres, especially when it comes to the desired strengths of the products. The FDU perfectly exploits some of its special advantages when processing glass fibres.

The optimum internal geometry of the wide slot die ensures that the glass fibre is distributed in the best possible way and thus the volume of the mass does not change throughout the flow through the die. In addition, the widening geometry of the FDU (from round to rectangular) favours the optimal distribution of the glass fibre in the complete component.

The longer the glass fibres are in the component, the more they run the risk of being damaged in the product. The FDU protects the glass fibres and thus leads to a considerably lower damage potential.
